Emmanuel Mwale, widely known as Dj Mzenga Man is urging parents to rethink this cultural pressure, warning that it can rob young people of growth, stability, and long-term independence.

The M Beats proprietor observed that in many households, children are immediately expected to take on family responsibilities as soon as they secure employment.

He stressed the importance of allowing young people the space and time to build financial stability before being burdened with such obligations.

“Makolo, pasanikoni space bana kuti bakule, bankale independent. Mwana anayamba manje manje nchito, kapena ni two months ago, mwayamba kumupatika kudala vima responsibility. Ayamba nakulipila rent,” he said.

clarified that there is nothing wrong with children contributing to some household needs.

Dj Mzengaman noted that the issue arises when the support becomes a burden, adding that some individuals appear unemployed simply because all their efforts and income are tied up in taking care of their families.

“Mwana anayamba manje nchito kapena nimu boma olo kulikonse but aoneka chabe dothi dothi. No I have a lot of bills, which bills? Because uja muntu afunika ayamba kuziika in place manje, ayamba kugulako tuma stove, afunika ayamba kunkala independent,” he stated.

The music icon also observed that some parents in their 40s would even stop working as hard just because one of their children has a job.

He further warned that even if such children do not speak up due to respect and traditions, they are overburdened and they are likely to not build any tangible thing for themselves.
