PATRIOTIC Front (PF) faction leader has warned his intra-party rivals against dragging President Hakainde Hichilema and the judiciary into the opposition party’s internal wrangles.

Speaking during a press briefing yesterday, the lawmaker said recent attacks on the courts and attempts to link President Hichilema to PF’s chaos were nothing but desperate tactics to mislead the public.
The PF Mafinga lawmaker said the wrangles in the former ruling party pre-date Hichilema’s rise to power and should not be pinned on him.
“Our problems in the PF, started way back, it is a usual thing, it is in our blood… When President Michael Sata died, we were in confusion. Till we elected the late Edgar Chagwa Lungu, we were in confusion. Was Hichilema there? Leave him alone out of this problem that we have,” Chabinga said.
The PF faction leader also took a swipe at those peddling attacks on the courts, accusing them of trying to erode public confidence in the judiciary.
He said attempts to pressure the courts through ultimatums and social media propaganda were acts of impunity that must not be entertained.
Chabinga further accused some expelled members of the party of fabricating claims of holding legitimate conventions and warned those planning parallel gatherings that only the central committee and officially sanctioned leadership had the authority to convene such meetings.
He noted that the PF’s internal battles would not be resolved by social media noise or ‘paid mouthpieces’ but by respect for the law and the party’s structures.
