PAC opens door to opposition alliances, ahead of second convention

THE People’s Alliance for Change (PAC) has opened its arms, embracing other opposition parties that would want an alliance with the party.

However, PAC cautioned that any collaboration must be built on shared values and a commitment to putting the interests of Zambians above politics.

PAC president Andyford Banda said the party will not compromise its ideals for political convenience and short-term gains.

“While we remain open to opposition collaboration, we shall not barter principle for convenience,” Banda stated.

“Any alliance must be built not on fleeting interests, but on shared values, mutual respect, and an unshakable commitment to placing the people above politics.”

The remarks come ahead of PAC’s second National Convention scheduled for next week Thursday, which he said will provide an opportunity to renew the party’s leadership mandate and set a clear strategy ahead of the polls.

Over the past several months, PAC has carried out nationwide consultations with various stakeholders and fellow opposition parties.

The consultations, Banda said, were guided by principle and the need to place the interests of Zambians above politics.
