THE country’s energy sector has received a boost following the Energy Regulation Board’s (ERB) approval of 38 licenses and five construction permits valued at K240.8 million.
ERB public relations manager Namukolo Kasumpa said the licenses cover renewable energy equipment, petroleum transportation and distribution, and lubricant blending.
The approvals also include authorisations for 82 road tank vehicles, 32 LPG retail kiosks and five newly built service stations to begin operations.
Kasumpa added that the construction permits will allow the building of four new service stations in Lusaka, Kabwe and Mpika, along with a 50MW solar plant in Serenje.
“These initiatives are vital to improving energy access, enhancing operational efficiency and supporting the delivery of safe and modern energy services countrywide,”said Kasumpa.
