INSTEAD of using his mouth to preach to his congregants into believing the gospel and staying grounded, A bishop in Mkushi, Central Province was using it to coerce a 13 year old into letting her guard down untill he forced himself on her.

It is reported that 43-year-old John Simutowe, a Bishop at Pentecostal Glorious River Church in Itala Compound abandoned his ministry work to settle for ‘evangelism’ using his urinating organ to defile the minor.
According to authorities the incident happened this year between January and August in Myafi area when the teenager, who is also a grade six pupil at Boma Primary School, was sent by her father to collect a music flash from the bishop’s shop in Itala Compound.
After the encounter, Simutowe, took the minor on his motorbike, but instead of going straight to the shop, he made a re-route to refuel at a nearby filling station.
Once refueled, Simutowe allegedly veered off the main road, leading the girl into a secluded area in the Myafi bush, where he undressed her and forcefully engaged in sexual intercourse with her.
Following the assault, the bishop is believed to have taken the young victim back to her father’s home, attempting to buy her silence with gifts of a KG sugar and a loaf of bread.
Seeking to maintain control of the situation, Simutowe further instructed the girl to visit his shop the next day to collect a music flash, under the guise of fulfilling her original mission.
Central Province police commanding officer Charity Munganga, confirmed the incident.
She said it was reported that the bishop continued his attempts to manipulate the victim, luring her to his shop with the promise of a new mobile phone and a bottle of lotion, all while coercing her into silence with assurances of care and support.
Munganga disclosed that the bishop allegedly seized the opportunity presented by a shared neighborhood to further abuse the young girl in June 2025.
Under the guise of inspecting his property, he reportedly beckoned the victim to his unfinished house, where he forced himself upon her, removing her clothing and engaging in sexual activity against her will.
On August 9, a concerned neighbour, George Kantopwezi, shared his suspicions with the victim’s father, sparking a chain of events that would ultimately expose the truth behind the bishop’s abhorrent behaviour.
Acting upon this revelation, the victim’s father approached his wife, imploring her to speak with their daughter about the allegations.
The young girl then confessed to her mother that she had indeed been sexually involved with the Bishop, confirming Kantopwezi’s suspicions and shattering the parents’ trust in the respected religious figure.
“When the mother exhausted all that information from her daughter, she later decided to report the matter to the Police,” Munganga said.
A medical report was then issued and police officers booked out to apprehend the suspect who is now detained in Police custody.
