An ELEVEN year old girl who was sent on an errand to buy vegetables is reported to have been defiled by the vegetable seller who is currently warming the cold floors of police cells in Nyimba.

According to authorities, Damiano Phiri aged between 30 and 35, who should have focused on selling vegetables to the minor, violated her yesterday at around 10:00 hours.
The minor is believed to have been sent by her sister to buy vegetables from Phiri’s garden on her behalf while she remained washing at home.
On her way, the little girl met Phiri as he was coming from a drinking spree and then led her to his garden.
While en route to the garden, Phiri diverted the journey taking her to a nearby bush, taking away the girl’s innocence on sight.
After allegedly committing that abomination, Phiri scoffed out K50 as hush money to prevent her from disclosing what had transpired.
But she did not get it.
Later on, they both proceeded to the garden and finally got the fresh vegetables she was sent to buy.
upon the minor’s arrival at home, the elder sister questioned her reason for taking that long in executing her errand, that’s when the juvenile told her what had happened.
Eastern Province Police commanding officer, Robertson Mweemba confirmed the incident, stating that the case was later reported to the police.
“A medical report form was issued and Phiri is in police custody awaiting court appearance,” revealed Mweemba.
