Stray lion terrorises Katyetye Chiefdom

While Easterners are being praised for taming the hungry lion in an epic cash out buying fiesta, several villagers in Katyetye Chiefdom, Isoka, Muchinga Province have taken to their heels in fear of the king of the jungle.
The lion on the loose has continued terrorising residents and is on a rampage attacking anything moving on sight and has left some livestock lifeless.
ZANIS reports that the lions killed two cows one pig in Katyetye Village on Tuesday this week.
It is reported the lions terrorising the residents and livestock started June 18, 2022 when a man was killed.
Isoka District Commissioner, Collins Sichivula confirmed the ordeal stating that Innocent Siwale of Kazilamawe village in Katyetye chiefdom was killed and eaten by the ferocious beast.
Sichivula disclosed that officers from the Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW) have been deployed to the area to help in controlling the Lions.
“The Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW) has Authorised people in the area who have licensed fire Arms to kill lions in Katyetye chiefdom as it takes a long time for the wildlife officers to reach the scene of attack,” Sichivula added.
Meanwhile a check by ZANIS has revealed that paw markings of Hyenas have also been spotted in Katyetye Kazilamawe villages for the last seven days.
