AMIDST social media speculation and controversy surrounding the family alignment of the late philanthropist Dora Nyambe, her family has issued a statement, saying they desire to see her organisation continue its important work.

Speaking in an interview with Kalemba, family representative Victor Mulubisha who is Dora’s brother in-law said every negativity that is being shared on some social media platforms that the family was supportive or that they want her properties among other accusations are fake and only meant to tarnish the family image.

Mulubisha said Dora had a present active family in her life who supported her works in the background and are now geared to continue supporting her even in her death by ensuring that her organisation continues to grow and that the children remain supported.

He also said that Dora was never fostered as a child as she had parents who are still alive.

“Before her organisation, Dora was living with her mother who mentored her and gave her the desire to come up with the ‘Footprints of Hope School’ because she was following in the footsteps of the mother.”

” Her mother managed a lot of orphanages and used to carry her daughter along because she was young at that time and she saw what the mother was doing. That is why when she built her empire, she named it after her mother. Not that it just came abruptly,” Mulubisha said.

He revealed that Dora’s mother mentored her and the two have been running orphanages even outside the country.

Mulubisha revealed that the family agreed that the phones and her vehicle keys will be in the custody of the police because of the arguments that started with the school staff who thought that the family was after her properties

He said the family only asked to use her vehicle when there was a need for her mother and other family members to go and see her at the mortuary as there was no bigger vehicle to occupy them.

“When we asked for the phone, it was because we wanted it to be left active for anyone who wanted to communicate with her. Family and friends who could not contact her [and] didn’t know that she had died.”

“We don’t know how the management was being done here so how do we just badge in and just start to run things? We also have a reputation to maintain out there so why should we come here and request for the vehicle,” said Mulubisha.

He said the family did not chase Dora’s foster children from her home, citing the lack of proper communication and understanding between the Dora’s staff and the family.

“The problem is that the same people (school staff) are not being honest. They are saying the family was never there. But this organisation has only been in existence for four years. So before then, where was Dora living? She was with her mother in Lusaka, they lived together until she moved here. If her friend Thandiwe was honest enough, she would tell the public the truth because she has visited our homes before, including that of Dora’s mother and knows well she had a close family.”

“We are a traditional family. When we asked for her bedroom keys, it was because we wanted her mother to mourn her from there and feel her daughter’s presence. Dora had a present family. brother’s, a sister and parents,” shared Mulubisha.

He added that initially, when the family learnt of her death, they travelled to Mkushi so that they could get her body and bury her in Lusaka as they had left a mourning house at her parents’, not until the community begged them to bury the late philanthropist there due to the impact she left.

“So we also had to request for a postmortem to be done so that everyone is sure and certain of what killed our sister. Dora was more like a public figure so the people deserve to know, and so does her family. We need to know whether she died suspiciously or if it’s the will of God, the people and friends deserve to know the truth,” added Mulubisha.

Dora died on Christmas day last week and is expected to be buried today after a postmortem which is expected to be conducted this morning by a government pathologist.

  1. That’s so inspiring when you get true support you can achieve milestones in your life—starting something new and making that a brand is the most difficult thing. A few years ago one of my friends started working and introduced Essay Roo and because of her dedication and no compromise of quality motive made her business brand and now she is successfully running that with 100+ happy clients.
