CHIENGI Member of Parliament (MP) Given Katuta yesterday stole the show in the National Assembly after declaring that she had graduated with a merit in Business Administration from Chalimbana University.
As she was called upon by Speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti, Katuta who instead of attending to her parliamentary duties, proudly stood up while caressing her upper chest and dashiki like bubu dress and announced her achievement of graduating with a merit while jokingly mocking her fellow MPs who may have graduated with silents at the University.
While giving a proud fake cough, the law maker addressed the house with pride as she flaunted her achievement, stating that getting such results was not an easy thing.
“Thank you so much madam speaker, let me start by congratulating myself for graduating with a merit, I know some of them here got silents when they were in the universities. Congratulations Given Katuta, MP for Chiengi.”
“I know the honourable minister of Home Affairs is jealous because he has never declared his results from ZIALE,” said Katuta while Home Affairs minister Jack Mwiimbu laughed uncontrollably.
Mutti could not resist joining the party and congratulated the law maker on her achievement.
“Sorry honourable member, congratulations for having graduated with a merit, we need to support each other. In what subject though? I’m sure it will improve so much in the way you do things,” said Mutti.
The new graduate in town also had to use her university courses by educating The Youth, Sports and Arts Minister Elvis Nkandu on some marketing words to use when advertising projects.
“I would like to also let the Minister of Sports to understand the English when we are advertising, I’m a marketer and so when they say upgrading, it should really mean that,” she lectured.
