Banda, the Orlando Pride forward, is nominated alongside Sanaa Mssoudy of Morocco and Chiamaka Nnadozie of Nigeria.

She has had a stellar year, winning the BBC World Footballer of the Year award and being named in the FIFPRO World XI.

“It goes without saying that being nominated among the best in the world is an honour but we are confident that she has done enough to win the award tonight.”

“Her story serves as a great inspiration to the girl child that hard work and talent can lift you. We wish our captain all the best tonight,” Kamanga stated.

Meanwhile, Kamanga expressed delight at the recent successes of Zambia’s under-17 boys and girls teams who were crowned Cosafa champions.

He also hailed the under-20 boys qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations, the senior men’s and women’s teams who also qualified for the continental showpiece.

“We are happy that the African Nations Championship (Chan) team has qualified for the tournament after Mozambique withdrew,” Kamanga added.

“It will be exciting to see Zambia national teams at continental competitions next year which puts them in good stead to showcase their talent.”
