Zambia Women’s football team star, Barbra Banda was the chosen one to deliver Orlando Pride out of the wilderness as she led the team to their first National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Championship title with a single bullet.
Banda scored the only goal in the final, defeating Washington Spirit 1-0.
With her 37th minute strike, Banda scored four goals in the postseason, the most by one player and clinched MVP silverware.
“This award is for Orlando Pride!” Banda screamed in joy while celebrating the victory.
This is Pride’s second silverware as they earlier won the 2024 NWSL shield.
Banda has had a good first season, netting 17 goals and providing seven assists in 25 matches for Pride this year.
Meanwhile, Banda’s compatriot, Grace Chanda who hasn’t had enough action in her debut season due to an injury, was also recognised as a NWSL championship winner as she received the winners’ medal.
