THE Copperbelt football club, Nkana, known for its physical aggressiveness on and off the pitch with quite vocal supporters, has announced that it has sent its head coach, together with his two assistants parking.

The Kitwe based club announced that its head coach lan Bakala, along with assistant coaches Dennis Makinka and Josphat Nkhoma, have been placed on administrative leave which was made effective immediately after the announcement.

Nkana, just like Manchester United has currently been struggling to make it’s way on the top of the MTN Super League table, let alone on the top 10 of the league.

The club has so far only won one game since the league started, and that was against Napsa Stars, a team currently seating at number 12 on the table while Nkana is at 16.

Just two days ago, the team was treated to an embarrassing loss at Independence Stadium in Choma district after they were beaten 2 goals to 1 by Green Eagles.

The loss came despite Bakala making four changes to the first 11 that started against Atletico Lusaka in their previous match. A game they equally lost 2 goals to 1 at Nkoloma Stadium.

However, the club management stated that the decision to put it’s three coaches on pause came following their recent performance and results in the ongoing 2024/25 season where they have created ‘clean sheets’ of three consecutive loses.

“Further updates regarding the coaching staff and any subsequent developments will be shared as they unfold,” stated the statement.
