Power Dynamos captain Godfrey Ngwenya has charged that FC MUZA no longer carries the underdog tag as they have proved tough since entering the MTN Super League.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference at Absa House ahead of Saturday’s Absa Cup 2024 quarterfinal against the Elegant Dynamites, Ngwenya believes FC MUZA have formed a formidable side that is capable of competing for trophies every season.

“There is nothing small about MUZA apart from the bus. They have proven themselves in the league for some time now. They have played continental football and we know what is at stake as Power Dynamos,” Ngwenya charged.

“In the league, it’s always been an encounter which is tough. In tomorrow’s game we are pulling up our socks, we want to win them. They have been a tough team for us to beat.”

His coach Oswald Mutapa agreed with Ngwenya’s sentiments, adding that tomorrow’s tussle will be interesting.

“Another tough game, but we are ready as a team. Facing the finalists of the last edition won’t be easy. We are the defending champions is the league, so we just have to apply ourselves and players need to prove their credentials against a formidable MUZA side,” Mutapa said.

“This is a knockout stage. It’s about application. Football is played with pressure but what matter is how you control it. We have seasoned players and who know what is in this. We lose, we are gone. There will be no second chance to play the Absa this year, so we have to be firm and apply ourselves very well.”

The match between the defending league champions and 2023 Absa Cup finalists will kick-off at 14h30 and will be preceded by the match between Indeni and Kabwe Warriors at Nkoloma stadium.
