Zambian swimmer Mia Phiri has secured another bronze medal for the country at the ongoing 2023 African Games in Ghana.
Competing in the women’s 50 meters freestyle final, Phiri showcased her prowess in the pool, recording an impressive time of 26.27 seconds.
Phiri etched her name in the record books by winning Zambia’s first medal at the tournament, competing in the women’s 50m backstroke event, clocking an impressive 29.17.
Phiri’s outstanding performance not only earned her a well-deserved medal but also contributed to Zambia’s growing success at the prestigious sporting event.
With this latest achievement, Zambia’s total medal count at the 2023 African Games now stands at four.
The Zambian contingent has demonstrated exceptional skill and resilience throughout the competition, with athletes excelling across various disciplines.
Judoka Steven Mung’andu clinched gold in judo, followed by Simon Zulu securing bronze in the same sport.
Now, Phiri’s double bronze in swimming has further bolstered Zambia’s standing on the international stage.
