LEGENDARY footballer Kalusha Bwalya has issued a rallying cry to Zambia’s youth, urging them to find a healthy balance between their studies and their passion for sports.
Sharing his sentiment as Zambia celebrates Youth Day, Bwalya, a former Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president, emphasized the importance of education.
“Education opens doors,” he declared. “It empowers you.”
However, he stressed that sports also offer valuable life lessons. “Sports teach discipline, teamwork, and resilience,” Bwalya explained.
Drawing from his own experience, Bwalya shared, “I was once in your shoes, juggling my studies with my love for football. It wasn’t easy, but I persevered because I believed in myself and my dreams. Today, I stand as a testament to what hard work and dedication can achieve.”
Bwalya challenged the young people to take advantage of educational opportunities provided by the government.
“Don’t let your love for sports fall by the wayside,” he continued. “Use sports to stay healthy, build your character, or even pursue a career if that’s your passion. Remember, you can excel in both academics and sports.”
