IN SOME parts of Lusaka, Speakers are almost twerking as they release Boostele sounds to cheer on Zambia as they take on Congo DR in their opening match at the Africa Cup of Nations tonight.
Fans are eagerly waiting to see the Chipolopolo Boys make a comeback to the continental showpiece which they have missed for the past three consecutive times.
Now with renewed hopes and aspirations, the boys are back where they belong to contend for a title they last won in 2012.
Today, at the Laurent Pokou, 22:00 hours, the 2012 AfCON Champions take on their neighbours who have won the coveted trophy twice, in 1968 and 1974.
The two teams have met five times, with DR Congo claiming victory three times while Zambia clinching one win and a draw.
Zambia is in Group F with the Democratic Republic of Congo, Morocco and Tanzania with some analyst calling them underdogs.
Well, like Danny Kaya sang “Don’t judge a book by Its Cover,” only 90 minutes will tell if the underdogs will cause a similar upset in 2012 or not.
There second game against Tanzania will be played on Sunday, while their last groups stage match will be against the Atlas Lions of Morocco on January 24.
Supporters have already taken their celebrating gear lever out of park, as they don Zambian colours and jerseys while artists are releasing theme songs.
