THE Red Arrows versus ‘Elegant Dynamites’ FC MUZA week 30 Super League match was this afternoon abandoned at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.

At the time of the abandonment – at 45 minutes- the two teams were tied to a 1 – 1 stalemate.

According to the media team for FC MUZA, the match was abandoned due to security concerns.

“The match between Red Arrows and F.C MUZA has been abandoned at halftime break due to security concerns,” FC MUZA said, according to its Facebook page.

“F.C MUZA coaches and players have been beaten in the tunnel by Red Arrows security officers and officials at halftime shortly before kick-off of second half.”

The Mazabuka-based team added that Red Arrows security officials sprinkled a liquid substance in the eyes of its goal keeper Monga Ndala and assaulted him .

“Assistant Coach Ernest Malambo and Midfielder Kondwani Mhango have been equally beaten and sustained injuries,” said FC MUZA.

“The matter has since been reported to police.”

On its part, Zambia Air Force (ZAF)-sponsored Red Arrows FC said the match was abandoned, “allegedly” on grounds that there was lack of security at Nkoloma Stadium.

“This is according to the decision made by match officials after an incident of splashing of water in the tunnel,” stated Red Arrows, on its Facebook page.

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) disciplinary committee will have to make a decision on the abandoned match.

With four matches remaining before the league ends, FC MUZA and Red Arrows are all tied on 44 points.
