AFTER years of litigation, football administrator Blackwell Siwale is free to enter Zambian football stadiums, the court has ruled.

In April, 2018, the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) banned Siwale from entering any FAZ affiliated stadia, for allegedly having circulated illegally obtained documents and for unwarranted attacks on members of the Association.

In a five-paged judgment delivered by the Arbitration Tribunal today and signed by Tribunal chairman Elias Chulu, vice-chairman Friday Besa and Tribunal member Gift Mileji, the Tribunal ruled that the ethics committee had no powers to effect a ban on Siwale.

“Coming to the appeal before us, it is our finding that the respondent’s ethics committee had no powers to impose a ban on the appellant after he was expelled from their Association,” reads the judgment, in part.

“The letter of ban, dated 11th April, 2018 which was written by the respondent after the expulsion, is therefore null and void.”
