THE Zambia Junior Copper Queens have booked a spot in the finals of the 2022 COSAFA Women’s Under-17 championship.
The Copper Princesses battled to a 2-all draw against their ‘sister’ team Malawi in an action packed semi-final played at Bingu National Stadium.
The Zambian Lases will meet either South Africa or Botswana on Sunday December 11 at 14:30 hours.
Following a 2-all draw, Zambia won with 3 – 1 scoreline, on penalties.
Zambia coach Naomi Phiri has described the game against Malawi as a tight one.
“Malawi was compact in defence but we learnt a lot of lessons. Our girls under rated Malawi and that why we conceded,” Phiri said.
And her Malawian counterpart Trevor Kajawa said the loss was very painful.
Kajawa said there are more positives than negatives which have come out of the game against Zambia.
“It is very painful indeed but we are building a team for the future, there are more positives that we have taken from this game than negatives,” said Kajawa
