THE UPND says it is confident that it will scoop tomorrow’s Petauke and Pambashe by-elections because of how government has delivered on its promises to the people of Zambia.
In a statement, UPND Lusaka Province chairperson Obvious Mwaliteta stated that the current administration has brought about peace acrosss the country.
Mwaliteta said the party is also confident in itself because of how it has conducted the campaigns without agitating violence.
The party reflected on the stark differences between the political climate today and the turmoil of the previous PF regime.
“Sometimes I wonder if I am in the same nation as others considering the pain and anguish that we went through under the PF regime which brought about terror and fear every time a by-election was called for. Tear gas, beatings and locking up was order of the day in such eventualities and we as the UPND were automatic victims,” he recalled.
Mwaliteta further highlighted some of the major achievements that the UPND has achieved in the years it has been in power.
“Free education is everywhere in the country, social cash transfer, Cash for Work and other amenities which were overlooked by the previous government is here to be attested by all the people of Zambia. Agriculture support programmes have been enhanced by our party in government, facts which have made our people in areas where by elections are taking place to vote for us.”
“Without even talking about teacher and health workers recruitment, our new dawn government remains an awesome governance administration bordering on the wellbeing of Zambians,” bragged Mwaliteta.
