THE Sudden online reappearance of fugitive Petauke Central law maker, Emmanuel Jay Jay Banda has caught the nation by surprise after he suddenly posted a new year message on his Facebook page.

Banda escaped police custody in August last year while he was admitted to Chipata General Hospital in Eastern Province.

His escape also led to the arrest of his wife, Lombe Chali who was at his bed side, two police officers and three prison warders for allegedly aiding his escape.

Since then, the country has not heard or seen Banda, as police had almost depleted their summer sweat in search for him.

The fugitive law maker was recently was spoted in Zimbabwe and Government announced that he had been apprehended.

However, attempts to extradite the former Petauke Central Law maker from that country yielded no fruits.

Zambia’s most wanted offender, with a K2 million bounty on his head however made rumors of holding an online presser to address the nation in the past days.

While that almost sounded to be impossible and false, Banda surprised the nation after he wished his over 143,000 Facebook followers a new year message.

“Happy new year enekwasu,” Banda posted around 24:00 hours.

“Happy New Year honourable too, we have missed you here in Zambia,” a follower, James Manda Kapela.

Other followers could not believe that the law maker was still alive, some expressed happiness to hear from him while others were humorously upset with him for making them lose out on the K2 million.

“Happy New Year Honorable, I cant wait for your live today,” commented Frank Phiri.

Jay Jay’s disappearance had earned him the loss of his parliamentary seat after being absent for over three months which led to the speaker Nelly Mutti to write to the ECZ who later announced that there will be by elections for the Petauke Central seat next month on February 6.

While Jay Jay remains in hiding, political parties have already launched campaigns to take over his seat.
