Speaking at the Bagande Lwiindi traditional ceremony of the Tonga people of Siavonga on Saturday, Nkombo stated that President Hichilema has indicated how much he respects the institution of chieftainship through his attendance at different ceremonies.

He said the Head of State’s presence at ceremonies showcases the President’s desire to have the country united.

“Your excellence be encouraged that everywhere we go they say you are the very first president that has visited these ceremonies ever since Adam and Eve. We went to Mwewa, Chifunabuli, the story is the same. When you were in opposition you educated us your disciples that your first mission was to unite the country.”

“If the attendance to these ceremonies of the royal highnesses from across the country moving from region to region is anything to go by then you have scored a distinction in the area of bringing peace and harmony in this country,” said Nkombo.

The minister thanked traditional leaders for heeding to the call for national unity through attending each other’s ceremonies and urged them to continue with their spirit of unity.

He called upon the host, Chief Simamba of Siavonga to utilise the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and help establish a skills training center in the chiefdom.

And Health Minister Elijah Muchima urged the people of Siavonga to keep trusting in the leadership of the President.

Muchima said the peace the country is currently experiencing is unprecedented and should therefore be kept by all means possible through the return of President Hichilema in 2026.

Meanwhile, Water Development Minister Peter Kapala assured the Head of State of Luapula Province’s support for the President.

“Your excellence I just want to tell you that Luapula province is your second bedroom and the keys to the bedroom are yours,” stated Kapala.
