PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema is tomorrow expected in Angola for an official visit at the invitation of that country’s President, João Lourenço.
According to Foreign Affairs Minister Mulambo Haimbe, President Hichilema will participate in the partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment Lobito Corridor Summit convened by Angola.
The meeting will focus on the development of the Lobito Corridor as a critical regional infrastructure project aimed at enhancing trade and connectivity across southern Africa.
The Summit will also be attended by the Democratic Republic of Congo and Tanzania in order to celebrate and highlight progress on the development of the Lobito Trans-Africa Corridor and the partnership of the Lobito Corridor Consortium.
Haimbe shared that President Hichilema will take part in a high level discussion, alongside other Heads of State and Government and international partners among the events lined up.
President Hichilema said the Lobito Corridor is important in promoting trade, regional integration and economic growth.

“Together with the Democratic Republic of Congo and the United Republic of Tanzania, the two nations continue to advance the Lobito Corridor project, which offers an alternative transportation route to the sea, unlocking economic opportunities through increased trade, investment, and job creation,” said Haimbe.
President Hichilema’s visit comes as US President Joe Biden also takes a three day visit to Angola.
