THE UPND says President Hakainde Hichilema has done exceptionally well for the country despite having experienced one of the worst droughts in living memory.
The ruling party’s National youth chairperson Gilbert Liswaniso stated that President Hichilema deserves commendation from other political leaders instead of condemnation.
Liswaniso was responding to Zambia Must Prosper leader Kelvin Fube who accused the Head of State of having driven the country’s economy to the ground.
The youth leader said the party will not allow its leader to be insulted all in the name of freedom of expression.
He stated that the President has set a strong foundation for economic takeoff around the country and is now reconstructing the economy left in ruins by the people that Fube now strangely believes are saviours.
“Zambians remember that the same people Mr. Fube has decided to support now are the same people he denounced and abandoned towards the run up to 2021 Presidential and General Elections.”
“Mr. Fube’s utterances leaves average citizens wondering whether he (Fube) has heard about debt restructuring which forms the basis for economic growth? That’s a global economic growth fundamental no politician worth their salt should ignore,” he said.
He further pointed out that the opposition leader was playing blind to huge investments that have been put up by President Hichilema, especially in the mining sector where thousands of people have been employed.
Liswaniso urged Fube to respect the Presidency and give constructive criticism rather than resorting to insults.
