NGONI Paramount Chief, Mpezeni has continued to preach unity among politicians stating that “we are all one, so there shouldn’t be any need for friction.”
He said: “A person who loves to violence doesn’t reason well. Leaving a life of acrimony is not nice. When your friend wrongs you, tell your friend of his wrong.Ukamunyata ndiye pe azamvwe? (Will they listen only when you fight?) He won’t…Words coming from your mouth are enough to settle misunderstandings. Don’t fight or insult each other.”
Mpezeni said this when Local Government and Rural Development Minister Gary Nkombo paid him a visit at his Ekuphendukeni palace in Chipata Eastern Province on Friday with an entourage that included Chipata Central Member of Parliament Mutolo Phiri, Eastern Province Minister Peter Phiri and Chipatat Mayor George Mwanza among other leaders.
Nkombo paid the traditional leader a visit to update him on the new motor grader worth K3.7 million bought by the Chipata Municipal Council and Government’s commencement of the rehabilitation of markets and bus stops in four districts of Eastern Province which include Chipata, Lundazi, Katete and Sinda at an estimated cost of K 109.7 million.
The project flagged off on Friday is a collaborative effort between the Zambian government and the German government through the German Development Cooperation (KFW) which aims to enhance the socio-economic well-being of citizens by improving infrastructure and empowering local authorities.
Mpezeni acknowledged the efforts Government was making in developing Infrastructure and spearheading other developmental projects.
He urged Government to continue working hard and expedite projects once they are initiated.
“Let’s work, and the people will judge on their own that indeed these [people] are working.
