PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema says those who are saying that balebwelelapo (They are coming back) should be strong enough to surpass the UPND’s significant strides in revamping the economy.
Officiating at the 118th Zambia National Farmers Union (ZNFU) annual congress yesterday, President Hichilema stated that his government had done a lot of developmental projects within a short period of time.
He said government has also come up with policies aimed at revolutionising the agriculture sector across the country.
“Those who are saying balebwelelapo, balimbe, (those saying they are coming back in power, they should be strong). Public office simasobela, it’s not a game.”
“When I was in opposition, people were telling me, ‘no, politics is a game.’ I said, don’t talk to me like that, this is a serious business. That’s why they destroyed our country but it’s not a game,” stated President Hichilema.
He also shared that government has a checklist of things which show what exactly it has done in the three years the UPND has been in office.
The Head of State said his administration remains committed to supporting farming related businesses.
“We are going to revolutionise farming, there’s no reason for us to have food insecurity because of one drought. We need to rethink the way we look at things. My competitors in the opposition were laughing, I said these boys, are they serious, do they understand what am doing here?”
“A country that cannot feed itself is not a stable country. There was petty politics for years. This government is here to support businesses and farming. Those who will be stealing livestock will not have bail,” added President Hichilema.
President Hichilema further shared that his trip to China resulted in duty-free export of Zambian products to that country.
