PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema says he will continue to respond with love to the people that are hating on him.
Arriving in Chifunabuli district of Luapula province today, ahead of the Ukwanga traditional ceremony of the Ng’ombo people, President Hichilema encouraged residents to also offer love to those who throw stones at them.
The President stated that giving love to everyone regardless of what they have done to you is the right thing to do.
“We return hatred, negative messages of the opposition with love. Because that’s what God loves. You the people of Chifunabuli were cheated that don’t vote for HH, he doesn’t travel, he won’t visit you but here I am. Let us remember to express our love to our fellow human beings,” said President Hichilema.
The Head of State further said his government’s way of showing love to all citizens including the opposition is to ensure that there’s freedom and peace in the country.
He added that delivering free education to all parts of the country is another way of showing love to the people of Zambia.
President Hichilema warned Chifunabuli residents that he will not tolerate the culture of letting children fish on the lake when they are supposed to be in school.
“Put your children into school. I don’t want to see a child fishing when they are supposed to be in school. I don’t want to see any child on the lake. Let your children go to school. If they fail to go to college or university, we offer skills through CDF bursaries, let them attain those skills,” said the President.
President Hichilema becomes the first President since Independence to officiate at this ceremony.
And the Luapula council of chiefs thanked the President for the continued support towards traditional ceremonies.
Speaking on behalf of the chiefs, Chief Chisunka of Mansa noted that traditional ceremonies are now aimed at uniting chiefs from all parts of the country.
The traditional leader stated that when chiefs unite, citizens in turn, unite.
