PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Secretary General Morgan Ng’ona has dismissed former president Edgar Lungu’s recent appointment of Brenda Nyirenda as the party’s acting Deputy Secretary General, labeling it as illegitimate and a violation of the party’s constitution.
Lungu who returned to active politics and started leading the other camp of PF appointed Nyirenda and it didn’t seat well with Ng’ona.
In a press statement released yesterday, Ng’ona questioned the legality of Lungu’s actions, stating that Lungu has no authority to make such appointments since his return to active politics was not sanctioned by the PF constitution.
“This appointment is very questionable as it’s in public domain that at the time ‘Dr’ Lungu announced his coming back to active politics, he simply declared himself as PF President without the backing of the Party constitution,” stated Ng’ona.
He noted that Lungu’s name does not appear in the official records at the Registrar of Societies, further undermining his claim to the PF presidency.
“This is a clear case of impersonation and against the law as he has no legal standing in the party to make any appointments,” Ng’ona said.
He also warned that any individuals accepting appointments from Lungu should be aware that these decisions are illegal and non-binding.
