PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has engaged in a telephone conversation with King Charles III, ahead of the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) set to take place in Samoa later this month.
In a Facebook post, President Hichilema described the conversation as cordial and productive.
President Hichilema took the opportunity to extend his best wishes to King Charles III, who ascended to the British throne following the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
“His Majesty King Charles III and I spoke on the phone today, ahead of the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in Samoa later this month.”
“It was a cordial and productive conversation, and I extended my best wishes to His Majesty for the future,” wrote the President.
The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting is a key event that brings together leaders from 56 member countries to discuss global challenges and forge collective strategies.
This year’s summit is expected to address issues such as climate change, economic development, and peace-building efforts within the Commonwealth.
