THE United Kwacha Alliance (UKA) has expelled three supporters of former president Edgar Lungu from the grouping.

The three are; Danny Pule of the Christian Democratic Party, PEP leader Sean Tembo and Green Party president Peter Sinkamba.

The trio’s ejection is in connection to their association with People’s Pact Alliance and Tonse Alliance, which is promoting the candidature of the former president.

Tembo has has also been removed for allegedly disrespecting and undermining fellow Council members and being a promoter of the Tonse alliance.

In a statement, UKA chairperson Sakwiba Sikota stated that the trio’s behaviour is against UKA’s goal of uniting opposition parties under one front to take on the UPND government.

Sikota stated that it was wrong for any UKA member to join another alliance or be attached to another political player.

“UKA member presidents, senior officials and office bearers are not permitted to join or be members of other political alliances. The objective of UKA is to have a united front in rescuing this country from maladministration and extreme poverty created by the UPND Government.”

“A senior colleague and member of the UKA CDP, Apostle Pule of CDP brought it to the attention of the Council that he is one of the founding members and office bearer in Tonse Alliance.Consequently, Apostle Pule cannot continue being a member of UKA.”

“Apostle Pule cannot continue as a member of UKA because he is also part of the Tonse Alliance. UKA wants to reduce the number of political groups so voters are not confused by too many candidates.”

The core purpose of UKA is to reduce the number of political players so that new members have a common strategy and the electorate are not overwhelmed by multiplicity of candidates.
