The company, which has mastered the art of load shedding the country like a delicacy due to the drought experienced last year assured the nation that every residential area will now receive at least four hours of electricity daily.

According to a statement issued by the Corporate Affairs Department, the new time table is due to the Corporation’s current generating capacity and ability to secure imports.

The statement read that the power rationing schedules will be published to keep consumers informed though the company was quick to remind the public that the schedules are more of a suggestion than a guarantee.

Residential customers who have grown accustomed to candle light dinners and early bedtimes will continue to receive electricity mostly in the evenings when the imported power decides to grace the country.

Meanwhile, daytime supply will remain reserved for essential services such as industries, hospitals and public institutions.

The utility said those lucky enough to have power during the day are likely sharing a line with an essential facility.

“Customers will be notified via SMS, the Zesco Facebook page and other communication channels,” read the statement.
