HEALTH minister Elijah Muchima has warned individuals who were recruited through corruption during the recent health workers recruitment to prepare to go to jail.
Muchima said government is an aware of the scam that has been ongoing in which unemployed youths were asked to pay between K15,000 and K20,000 in order for them to be put on the recruitment list.
He warned that once investigated, both the perpetrators and the victims shall be arrested and jailed.
“There’s a lot of fraudulent activity going on. Some crooked people are charging as much as K15,000, K20,000 to recruit people and using fake letters signed by madam Miyoba, a former PS (Permanent Secretary).”
“We are investigating this matter, so if you have gotten a letter back door, you endanger yourself, you will be arrested so that you tell us who is that one who recruited you,” he said.
Muchima further revealed that the ministry was aware that the scam activities are happening at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) and the Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital.
He added that the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) and Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) shall be the main investigators in the matter so that culprits are brought to book before they even get their first salary.
He said this on Monday when he toured the Ndola Teaching Hospital.
