POLICE in Southern Province have arrested a man in Mazabuka after he allegedly defiled a 12 year old girl of Maubwe Village during the night of the new year’s celebration.
According to police reports, the survivor together with her friends had gone to celebrate the new year at Danny Hampekema’s place in Nzala Village where some musicians were performing.
After spending some minutes enjoying the music, the juvenile was approached by a man she later came to know as Mweemba Munanyanga who asked her why she was shivering and gave her a jersey to wear and then left.
After some time, at around 23:00 hours, the victim was told by one of her friends that the man who had earlier given her a jersey was calling for her at a certain house within the vicinity.
Innocently, the girl went to the house, thinking that the man wanted to get his jersey back.
But just upon reaching there, the man grabbed her hand and pulled her inside the house, covered her mouth and had canal knowledge of her.
She screamed for help but no one heard her because of her covered mouth.
The juvenile was only rescued by the owner of the premises Danny Hampekema who forcefully entered into the house and found them in the act.
Hampekema then informed the parents to the victim who later reported the matter to police.
Southern Province police commanding officer, Auxensio Daka who confirmed the incident said the matter was reported by the survivor’s mother aged 48.
“The victim has been issued with a medical report form and the suspect has been apprehended and is currently detained in custody,” said Daka.
