THE truck driver that caused the accident which claimed the life of music artiste Dandy Krazy and four others has been charged dangerous driving by police.
According to official information on the incident, 28 year old Hachalwa Lweendo while driving a Shackman truck lost control of his vehicle due to excessive speed resulting in the truck colliding with the Toyota Allex and the Nissan Hardbody, which were traveling in the opposite.
Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga revealed in a statement that Lweendo has been charged with five counts of causing death by dangerous driving.
Hamoonga disclosed that Lweendo will appear in court soon.
Meanwhile, police have confirmed the names of all the five that died in the accident which include Wesley Chibambo aged 47 of Lilayi area, 54 year old Moses Simpungwe of Kabwe, Christopher Muyembe aged 30 of Lusaka, West, Warren Lundulanga aged 32 of Shantumbu in Lusaka and 25 year old Humphrey Makofi of Lusaka’s Chalala area.
Hamoonga urged all motorists to exercise caution by adhering to traffic regulations and prioritising the safety of all road users to prevent further loss of life on the road.
“The Zambia Police Service extends heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and assures the public of our commitment to ensuring that justice prevails in this matter,” added Hamoonga.
