THE Zambia Army has promoted numerous soldiers from the rank of staff sergeant to warrant officer class two (WOII) in recognition of their discipline, performance, leadership qualities, and dedication to duty.
The promotions, announced by Zambia Army Commander, Lieutenant General Geoffrey Choongo Zyeele, shows the Army’s commitment to recognising and rewarding excellence.
The newly promoted Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs) have come from various specialties and experience levels.
Speaking at the promotion parade held yesterday, Zambia Army Headquarters Garrison Commander Brigadier General (Dr) Golden Ng’andwe congratulated the promoted officers, urging them to uphold the values that earned them their new ranks.
“This is not the time to relax just because you are now warrant officers. Continue upgrading your military credentials to make yourselves eligible for future promotions,” Brig Gen (Dr) Ng’andwe said.
In Ndola, 3 Infantry Brigade Commander Brig Gen Kelvin Chiyangi emphasised the importance of leadership and professionalism in the newly promoted officers’ roles.
He encouraged them to be a reliable bridge between Command and junior officers, ensuring seamless communication and adherence to orders.
“You must adapt quickly to your new appointments and drive Command’s vision while remaining loyal and professional,” Brig Gen Chiyangi stated.
2 Infantry Brigade Deputy Commander Colonel Webster Chakufyali commended the officers’ hard work and discipline, urging them to sustain these qualities as they took on greater responsibilities.
At the Special Forces Training School, Commandant Lt Col Bright Tatile praised the officers for their dedication and perseverance.
“It is with great honour that we recognize your well-deserved promotion. Your commitment to excellence has earned you this prestigious rank,” he said, wishing them success in their new roles.
Deputy Brigade Commander Col (Dr) George Hatyoka of Infantry Brigade Headquarters reminded the new WOIIs to be role models for young soldiers and to always give thanks to God.
“The best way to thank Command is by maintaining high standards of professionalism and adhering to the Army’s core values,” he said.
The ceremony which concluded with warm congratulations was also a reminder that the path to success requires sustained effort and commitment to the Army’s mission and values.
