THE life of an eight year old girl Choma district in Southern Province has been saved by her three year old little sister after she reported to her neighbor that her elder sister was being defiled by the step father.
The Survivor, lives with her mother and step father, Devious Mweetwa aged 32 in Kamunza compound, and the mother is a business lady.
On Monday morning, the mother left home around 05:00 hours to do some piece works, leaving her two daughters and husband sleeping in the house.
She returned home around 08:00 hours and found her elder daughter who is the survivor playing with her step father as usual.
Around 11:00 hours, the step father ordered the survivor to take a bath, and this did not bother the mother as she never expected any foul play.
But yesterday, after she again went for her piece works, he neighbor called her to inform her about something of concern after she returned back.
The concerned neighbor told the survivor’s mother that he three year old daughter told her that she saw the father doing what she termed as ‘bad manners’ with her elder sister on the previous day.
Concerned about the information received, the perturbed mother confronted her husband over the allegations and led the couple into having an argument.
On the same day, the mother was forced to visit Railway Surgery Clinic where upon medical examination it was confirmed that the child was indeed sexually abused.
She then reported the matter of defilement to the police.
Southern Province Police Commanding Officer, Auxensio Daka who confirmed the incident said police rushed to the clinic after the matter was reported.
“The suspect was apprehended and taken into custody while a medical report form was issued to the victim to continue with treatment,” said Daka.
