ONE person has died while another was left injured after they were shot at by unidentified individuals near the Mandili fishing camp in Namwala district on Friday.
According to a police report filed on December 7, Saturday, Kebby Kayayi and Norman Mwape, were shot by unidentified assailants while the duo was engaging in poaching activities.
“An unknown firearm but strongly suspected to be a shot gun was used in the act,” Southern Province commanding officer Auxensio Daka said while confirming the incident.
Kayayi, whose age and exact address remain unknown, succumbed to his injuries, dying on the spot while his colleague, Mwape, a 25-year-old resident of Kantengwa, sustained gunshot wounds to the neck and stomach.
Luckily after the incident, Mwape managed to seek help at the Mandili fishing camp and was transported to the local health post for medical attention.
Daka disclosed that Mwape was in a stable condition, according to medical staff at Mandili Health post.
