THE Zambia Air Force (ZAF) has announced the death of Colonel Godfrey Mutale, a distinguished senior officer who dedicated his life to serving the nation until his retirement in 2015.
According to a statement issued by the force on its Facebook page this morning, Colonel Mutale died at Maina Soko Medical Centre yesterday after an illness.
Colonel Mutale’s remarkable journey with ZAF began on February 28, 1987, when he enlisted as a Professionally Qualified Entrant (PQE) and was commissioned as a Lieutenant and Clinical Officer under the Medical Services Directorate.
Throughout his illustrious career, Colonel Mutale served with distinction, notably as the Director Sports in ZAF.
He retired on February 28, 2015, after reaching the mandatory retirement age, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and service.
ZAF Commander, Lt Gen Oscar Nyoni, has extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Colonel Mutale and the entire Air Force family.
Initial funeral gathering was at Colonel Mutale’s home in Lusaka’s Kamwala South, opposite Al-Fateh Mosque although ZAF say burial and funeral details will be shared in due course.
