GOOD news has come for job seekers and skilled individuals as government has announced that it will host the National Skills, Productivity and Jobs Summit aimed at addressing unemployment, skills mismatches and productivity challenges.
The summit will take place next week from Tuesday to Wednesday and will be held under the theme “Bridging the Skills, Employment and Productivity Gap.”
Labour and Social Security Minister Brenda Tambatamba revealed at a press briefing that the event will see President Hakainde Hichilema officiate and interact with the youths.
Tambatamba stated that the summit seeks to connect job seekers with employers and promote work based learning such as internships and apprenticeships to foster policy dialogue and strategies to enhance productivity and inclusive employment practices.
She encouraged youths and the general public at large to participate in the summit and leverage the opportunities available.
“Various industry experts are expected to make presentations, we will have panel discussions on labour policies, skills development and productivity strategies.”
“The activities lined up include exhibitions, showcasing job opportunities, innovations and skills programmes and networking sessions to foster collaboration between stakeholders,” she said.
Lucky ones will walk away with immediate job placements and work based learning opportunities, recommendations for policy improvement and implementation.
“We also aim to strengthen collaboration between industries and training institutions and enhanced productivity strategies to support economic growth.
