A 27 year old man in Lusaka has been detained by the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) following an operation that led to the discovery of a laboratory used to cultivate cannabis.
It is reported that the Cannabis mini factory was using Hydroponics, a technique of growing plants using a water-based nutrient solution rather than soil, which significantly reduces water usage, brings about higher crop yields and plants can grow in limited spaces.
Acting on an intelligence report from concerned members of the general public, DEC clamped down on the clandestine hydroponic Laboratory involved in cultivating suspected cannabis.
“The operation resulted in the apprehension of a 27 years old male person identified as Colin Peter Steuart Miller, who is currently detained in Police Custody in order to assist with further investigations into the matter,” DEC public relations officer Allan Tamba shared via statement.
The Commission warned perpetrators involved in the illicit cultivation and production of drugs that the long arm of the law will visit them in due time.
Tamba called on all citizens to continue reporting suspicious activities as he thanked the public for their vigilance over the lab bust.
