Zambian boy mints gold at World Scholar’s Cup in USA

THE ‘Zambia ku Chalo’ has now become more than a chant or a song but a brand shining through the darkest of moments for many as Zambians to continue to break barriers, shining a spotlight on the land linked country.

Lubaya Mweemba, a young pupil of Lusaka’s Oaktree School has now gone beyond borders to represent the country with pride after minting gold at the World Scholar’s Cup Mega finals held at Yale University, in the United States of America (USA), putting Zambia on the fourth position in the world.

The World Scholar’s Cup aims to teach students with interesting, not-taught-in-school lessons, and finding common ground between people of different backgrounds.

The young Scholar, was among the Zambian team that was participating in the competition, including, Lubaya Mweemba and Muusa Linyama, a trio that managed to secure their place in the prestigious Tournament of Champions Global Round junior division.

Mweemba outclassed his opponents and attained a gold medal at the Cup finals in the ASIMOV category, in a competition that this is greatly dominated by Asian countries this year.

This achievement ranked him and Zambia fourth in the world among 2700 scholars from 50 countries.

Meanwhile, the entire team of scholars that represented Zambia managed to mint an impressive total of 30 medals.

“We couldn’t be prouder!,” posted his school, which proudly announced his achievement.
