POLICE in Lusaka have arrested a 28-year-old Sunday school teacher from Eureka Farms in Lusaka West after he was reported to have defiled a 12 year old girl who he later gave a K5 for her silence.
According to police, the incident is said to have occurred between last Sunday, November 17 and Friday, November 22, around 15:00 hours at Grasmere Eureka Farm.
Police spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga who confirmed the occurrence said the suspect was teaching the children last Sunday at church and later, he took all the children to a shop, where he bought them sweets.
But for his targeted child, he took her to his house, where he defiled her and bought her silence for K5.
And when the juvenile threatened to tell her parents, about what he had done to her, the suspect, who is also a Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA) officer, promised to give her a K100, to make it K105.
But unfortunate for the suspect and fortunate for the survivor, her young friend, who followed the two and witnessed what had happened boldly confronted them and later ran to inform the survivor’s parents.
The child’s uncle then promptly reported the matter to the police.
“The matter was then reported to the police by the victim’s uncle and immediately, police issued the survivor with a medical report and moved in to arrest the suspect,” said Hamoonga.
