Livingstone man dies after jumping from truck to view cool box

A YOUNG life has been cut short after jumping from a moving truck where he was a passenger while attempting to view the famous cool box that brought the city of Livingstone to a standstill.

20 year old Nelson Soko came out injured from the truck as he tried to jump from the deadly vehicle which collided with a heavily loaded cool box truck.

The Cold Box Unit Abnormal Load, was in transit from Katima Mulilo Border en route to Solwezi’s Kansanshi Mine.

It is reported that the abnormal load known as the cool box was moving slowly and people were climbing on trucks that were coming behind for a clear view.

“After the Abnormal Load cleared the Weighbridge, the convoy increased speed. That is when the deceased, Nelson Soko jumped from the truck and sustained internal injuries,” said Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga.

The jumping left the now deceased with internal injuries, leading to him dying upon arrival at Livingstone Teaching Hospital.

The body has been deposited to
Batoka mortuary hospital awaiting postmortem.

Also involved in the accident was an unidentified driver of the truck who came out of the vehicle injury free and the truck had no damages.
