A NEW era has begun for the Luvale people of Chavuma district in North Western Province as a new traditional leader has been ushered in.
Chieftainess Luweji II was crowned in Chavuma last Saturday bringing about a new point in history for the Luvale people not only in Zambia but also in neighbouring Angola and Congo.
The ceremony, steeped in ancient customs and pride drew leaders and spectators from across the region to highlight the bond that connects Luvale communities beyond borders.
King Chinyama Cha Mukwamayi of the Luvale people of Zambia and Angola officiated at the coronation as a way of displaying unity.
Attendees included Chavuma District Commissioner Geoffrey Kasonda, local leaders like Likumbi Lya Mize National chairperson Isaac Kanguya, Luvale sub-chiefs from Zambezi and Chavuma along with senior and junior indunas.
Senior Chief Ndungu IX of Zambezi District has since celebrated Chieftainess Luweji II’s new role as a symbol of unity and resilience.
Chief Ndungu stated that the Chieftainess’s leadership and vision will undoubtedly propel the community forward, fostering unity, prosperity and progress.
He urged the Luvale people to rally behind their new Chieftainess by embracing her guidance and wisdom in navigating the challenges and opportunities ahead.
“Together, we shall build a brighter future, rooted in our timeless traditions and strengthened by our collective resolve,” said Senior Chief Ndungu II.
He also encouraged the government to join forces with the new Chieftainess in town by leveraging her leadership to foster development, peace and prosperity in Chavuma.
