POLICE in Lusaka have once again arrested 52 year old Kelvin Sampa for fraud, this time around involving allegedly obtaining money by false pretenses.
Sampa is accused of defrauding a Japanese company, Nakamishi, of US$70,000 between July and September 2024.
It is reported that Sampa allegedly promised to supply refined gold from Zambia but failed to deliver.
The victims indentified as Kunihiro Fugishima and Yukie Nakamina, filed a complaint leading to Sampa’s arrest after police investigations.
In a statement, Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga revealed that the suspect has been released on police bond and will appear in court soon.
“We wish to remind members of the public to exercise due diligence when engaging in business transactions, especially with individuals and companies they are not familiar with.”
“The Zambia Police remains committed to ensuring that all forms of fraud and financial crimes are dealt with in accordance with the law,” said Hamoonga.
