LIKE a politician after failed elections, a man of Mpika district in Muchinga Province could not control his emotions and axed his successor after discovering that a new man in the village had married his ex-wife.

Despite divorcing his former wife and even having the bride price returned to him, it’s like Innocent Chanda still wanted his woman back silently.

But his silent moves were made loud after he heard that there was another man named Charles Chanda, 49 who started planting winter maize in his former farm.

But knowing how good and fertile the farm was, Innocent was not going to let Chanda continue devouring his former ‘sosovjoy’ let alone leave him oxygen to breathe.

Charles, a new person in Kaole Village under Chief Nabwalya was taken by the beauty of Angela Mukungule, 32, a single and divorced ‘Chibyongo’.

But being new in the village, it was quite obvious that Charles had no history of the kind of person Angela was married to.

So he proposed to her, and she accepted to marry him. And the couple got married.

But when the news reached the ears of Innocent that his former wife had replaced him with a fellow ‘Chanda’, he outshined his name, got his axe, and went to their home to disfigure his successor.

Innocent attacked Charles, slicing his face, and later ran away.

The matter was then reported to the police station and confirmed by Muchinga Province Police commanding officer, Dennis Moola who said the victim was issued with a medical report.

“The suspect had previously divorced his wife, and the dowry was returned. However, Charles had proposed to Angela, and she accepted,” Moola explained.

He added that Charles is currently receiving treatment at Chilonga Mission Hospital as his condition is said to be stable while police have launched a manhunt for Innocent.
