Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) has been honoured with the Organisation of the Year Community Empowerment Leadership Excellence Award at the Zambia Business Awards (ZABA).

This accolade, presented to CEEC last night highlights the Commission’s unwavering commitment to uplifting local communities and fostering economic growth across the country.

CEEC director general Dr Charles Mungule noted the role of teamwork in achieving the milestone.

“This is really team work and dedication. It’s combined effort. I’m proud of the achievement for the Commission. It’s showing that the Commission is being recognised and the work is beginning to be actualised,” said Dr. Mungule.

He further praised government’s political will in supporting impactful projects across Zambia, especially in sectors such as agriculture and energy.

Among the success stories, the DG highlighted the CEEC’s investment in the Chirundu, Banana plantation project, which faced challenges due to drought and the energy crisis but demonstrated resilience through innovation in agricultural and irrigation mechanisation.

The Commission has also been a pivotal force in funding cooperatives and offering solar energy solutions to market traders.

Dr Mungule reiterated the Commission’s dedication to continuing this work and extending opportunities to more Zambians through competitive business pitches and funding, aimed at scaling local enterprises to access global markets.

He encouraged the media to continue covering CEEC’s works with objective reporting, whether positive or negative, as a means of helping the organisation improve and refine its strategies.
