A TEENAGER of Monze district in Southern Province is currently nursing wounds after he was harmed by a 20-year-old man who used an axe, teeth and stick to wound him for spreading rumours around the village that he has a bad relationship with water.

The 13 year old boy, Brian Hakulya yesterday went to fetch water where the hand pump was located within Chaleba village, alongside his siblings in the morning.

Along the way he came across Yotam Muleya on his way back around 07:00 hours.

Muleya commanded the boy to pause his carrying of the water container so that he could address the allegations.

He started accusing the boy of telling people in the village that he does not bath most of the times despite the scorching sun in the southern part of Zambia.

But the boy refused ever telling people that Muleya was a moving sewer tank.

But his denial only made Muleya more upset as he immediately started attacking him with an axe and a stick causing him to sustain multiple wounds in his head, Swollen and reddish right eye, bruised nose and general body pains.

Later, Muleya ran away.

The victim was rushed home by his siblings and told the father what had transpired, who later reported the matter to police.

Southern Province Police Commanding Officer, Auxensio Daka confirmed the incident and said police issued the victim with a medical report to get medical treatment.

“A manhunt for the suspect has been launched as he is currently on the run,” said Daka.
