FIVE members of a notorious gang in Ndola, Copperbelt Province called the Black Dog gang will have to fine tune their alto voices to bark behind bars after they unleashed a painful lesson to their ex- member who refused to return to the team.
Local witnesses described the Black Dogs as a dangerous group known for their aggressive tactics.
According to police reports, the gang members targeted Emmanuel Banda, a 20-year-old resident of Kabushi, on September 27.
They accused Banda of abandoning the group and proceeded to brutally assault him.
After inflicting pain on their old friend, the gang is reported to have gone on rampage, orchestrating a series of violent crimes in the Kabushi Township.
“During the robbery, the gang members reportedly used catapults, stones, and their fists to intimidate and injure Banda.”
“In addition to the physical violence, the gang members looted Banda’s shop, stealing goods worth K3,126 and K645 in cash,” police sources revealed.
While they left chaos in their trail, the police were not asleep as they swung into action, conducting an operation, between Monday night and Tuesday morning which led to the apprehension of the five.
The five arrested suspects, identified as Maxwell Mwenya an ex- convict only 19 years, Shadreck Masiye 20, Gilbert Simfukwe 18, Kasafya Sunkutu 21, and Harrison Phiri 17, all residents of Kabushi Township.
According to police the group is currently being held in custody on charges of aggravated robbery and is expected to appear in court soon.
Police investigations into the Black Dog gang’s activities are ongoing. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
