SUZYO Mwale, a family man that went about his business trying to put food on his family’s table has become the latest Yango driver to lose his life in the line of duty.

According to the police, the 42-year-old Mwale was attacked by unknown assailants during a robbery that happened in Lusaka early Sunday morning while operating as a Yango driver in the Makeni area around 01:00 hours.

Before his tragic death, Mwale posted a prayer on social media, seeking divine protection for his loved ones.

The prayer, titled “Heavenly Intercession for Others,” reflected his faith and concern for the well-being of those around him, demonstrating just how his character was.

In a statement issued by the police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga confirmed that Mwale was stabbed to death.

Despite sustaining a deep stab wound to the neck, Mwale managed to call for help before succumbing to his injuries.

“The incident occurred in Makeni at Patel area after he (Mwale) was booked from Kalingalinga Compound. During the robbery, the assailants stabbed Mr. Mwale on the left side of his neck, inflicting deep wounds,” Hamoonga said.

“The knife used in the attack was left lodged in his body. The criminals proceeded to steal his cell phones and wallet, which contained an undisclosed sum of money.”

Hamoonga said the suspects, who fled the scene after stealing Mwale’s phone and wallet, remain at large but police are investigating the incident and have appealed to the public for any information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.

The incident has sparked outrage in the community, with many expressing their condolences to Mwale’s family and calling for increased security measures for Yango drivers as the situation escalates.
